Kirsten Gilmore (she/they) is a vocalist, percussionist, and educator based in Seattle, WA.
Alongside her work as a musician, Kirsten is earning a Bachelor of Arts in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Oregon State University. She is passionate about the intersection of the arts and social justice. Her most recent solo project, titled Half of Humanity, brought her background as a vocalist and percussionist together with her work in sociology and gender studies. More information on this project can be found here.
Kirsten is constantly looking for ways to grow in her artistry, and is grateful to have several incredible teachers and mentors in her life. She studies songwriting and voice with Broadway artist and singer-songwriter Desi Oakley, drums with Broadway drummer Elena Bonomo, classical percussion with Dan Adams, and classical voice with Cherie Hughes. She has also participated in lessons and masterclasses with several other theatre artists, including Krystina Alabado, Erika Henningsen, Isabelle McCalla, Marisha Wallace, and more.
As a percussionist, Kirsten performs regularly with several ensembles in the Seattle area, including North Seattle Symphonic Band, Edmonds College Concert Band, and Formation Wind Band, Seattle’s first all-women wind band.
Kirsten teaches private lessons on voice, drums, guitar, and ukulele, with more than five years of experience teaching ages 5-13 both virtually (via Zoom) and in-person. Visit the Connect page to inquire about current lesson availability.
